Sleep Tests

Intus Healthcare offer two different in-home sleep tests. Both test for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea only. Please note they are not intended to provide feedback on any other sleep disorders.

With all of our tests, we provide the equipment to be worn at home, in your own bed. The data returned, along with a questionnaire completed, will be assessed by independent, NHS-trained sleep technicians with a minimum of five years sleep scoring experience. All sleep tests are confidential (only you will receive your results) and results are provided within 7 days of returning the equipment.

Simple Oximetry Sleep Test - the most basic test for OSA, which monitors your blood oxygen levels and heart rate - two key indicators sufficient to confirm OSA for many patients. It is ideal if having OSA confirmed is a formality; ie you have all of the three key symptoms and are male, aged over 40, and obese (BMI above 30). Unless all of these apply, you should instead consider the more in-depth Detailed Sleep Test below to minimise the risk of a false negative.

Detailed Sleep Test - a far more in-depth test that monitors the above, but it also records your body position, body movements, snoring intensity, and crucially your Peripheral Arterial Tone - a key physiological signal that can indicate respiratory disturbances during sleep. These additional data sources allow the sleep technician a more accurate picture of your sleep, and provide a more conclusive assessment.
